WEC’s future to be exclusively revealed at the World Motorsport Symposium

29 November 2017

Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO)’s Sporting Director, Vincent Beaumesnil, will be exclusively revealing the future of The World Endurance Championship (WEC) at this year’s World Motorsport Symposium on Friday, following the withdrawal of Audi and Porsche from the championship.

The WEC and Le Mans has been through difficult times before and has always come out stronger, and such will be the case right now. Audi’s leaving the championship and not coming back to Le Mans in particular was a body blow to the FIA and the Automobile Club de l’Oeust as it came out of the blue. The German team had been such a staunch supporter for so long that it seemed inconceivable that it would walk away, but that was before the VW diesel scandal.

Then came the second body blow from Porsche which despite giving assurances that it was in for another season announced midway through this year that it too was withdrawing at the end of this season. Suddenly the ACO was left with a championship with only one factory team in the shape of Toyota and not much else.

The ACO has had to react extremely quickly and has indeed done so, as will be highlighted by Beaumesnil this Friday at the World Motorsport Symposium who will explain their plans for the future.

However, the event will operate a strict Chatham House rules policy, you need to be there to hear it for yourself. It may be less than 48 hours away, but it’s not too late to book your ticket to join us at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in London.

Go to worldmotorsortsymposium.com for further details and to book.
