Nielsen Racing to debut Norma LMP3 in 2019/20 Asian Le Mans Series

26 June 2019

Nielsen Racing has confirmed that its 2019/20 entry into the Asian Le Mans series will feature a Norma M30 LMP3 car, marking the first time the racecar builder will be represented in the flagship Asian series.

The team will make the switch in Asia to the Normas, having competed in the 2018/19 series with two Ligiers. Nielsen has however used the Normas in Europe, where it campaigned in the European Le Mans Series, and the Michelin Le Mans Cup. Currently, only a single car has been confirmed for the Asian series, but the team has not ruled out adding a second entry to the championship which starts in November.

“We are delighted to be returning to Asia this winter after our experience last year. It’s a great series and this time we are focused on an outright LMP3 victory and the prized Le Mans 24-hours entry that accompanies it,” said Nielsen Racing team principal, David “Sven” Thompson. “The Norma has proved to be extremely competitive in Europe this year and we expect much the same in Asia.”

Cyrille Taesch Wahlen, the managing director of the Asian Le Mans Series, added: “We are very happy to not only welcome back Nielsen Racing to the Asian Le Mans Series, but also to welcome Norma to the Series. The new manufacturer is a welcome addition to what is shaping up to be a very strong LMP3 Class battle!”
