rFpro scoop double Queen’s Awards for Enterprise

24 April 2019

UK simulation software specialist, rFpro, has won two prestigious Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.

The company has been honoured in both the Innovation and International Trade categories through its technology that allows simulation of vehicles, in accurate copies of the real world known as digital twins.

“We are delighted that the hard work of everybody at rFpro has been acknowledged by the Queen’s Awards judging panel and proud to be among such strong competition,” says Chris Hoyle, rFpro founder and technical director.

“It is an extremely exciting time for the motorsport industry, but also a demanding one for manufacturers and their suppliers. Technology has never moved so quickly and expectations for improved vehicle simulation, to maximise the championship points earned per dollar invested, have never been higher.

“To play such a key role in the emergence of systems that help meet these expectations is hugely satisfying for our team, and recognition by the Queen’s Awards is further validation of our ongoing work. We love working in this industry and it is fantastic to receive such prestigious recognition.”

rFpro was presented with the Innovation award for its driving simulation software that allows vehicles to be engineered and tested in the virtual world. rFpro supports customers in Formula 1, NASCAR, LMP1 and 2, Formula E, Indy, Super-GT, V8 Supercars and DTM. They have built and maintain a library of hundreds digital twins of race circuits and test tracks to support their customers in all these series, all built from high quality kinetic-LiDAR surveys using an automated 3D-reconstruction process that ensures engineering accuracy.

The International Trade award was earned for rFpro’s outstanding overseas sales, which have grown by more than 62% over the last two years. The company’s products are also used by road car manufacturers and their suppliers to develop and test ADAS systems and Level 4 and 5 autonomous vehicles. Seven of the world’s top ten largest road car manufacturers now use rFpro.

Now in its 53rd year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious awards in the country, with winning businesses able to use the awards’ esteemed emblem for the next five years. rFpro will celebrate its awards during a royal reception at Buckingham Palace for Queen’s Awards winners in the summer.

Applications for the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2020 open on May 1 2019. For more information, visit www.gov.uk/queens-awards-for-enterprise.
