According to a story published by Autocar.co.uk, Lamborghini is evaluating a possible return to Le Mans in 2021 in the new hypercar category. As the article says, it will put the marque in contention for outright victory, competing with rivals Aston Martin and Toyota.
According to the report, Stefano Domenicali, Lamborghini CEO, the company is undertaking a feasibility assessment that will be completed by the end of the year.
While he stated that the company did not have the budget to invest in a totally new project, he told Autocar that the one-off Lamborghini SC18 project car, an Aventador-based road-legal car, could form the basis for the racer.
