Cosworth acquires Delta Motorsport

1 June 2021

Cosworth has finalised its acquisition of Silverstone-based electrification specialists Delta, strengthening the company’s position at the heart of the transport technology revolution.

Formal completion of the Delta acquisition allows Cosworth to accelerate its offering in electrification. It also affords Cosworth a location at the heart of the UK’s high-performance technology cluster, Silverstone.

Through Delta’s expertise, Cosworth can meet the evolving needs of its customers as they transition to hybrid, EV and fuel cell configurations. Delta’s industry-leading work in battery systems, control systems, electric/hybrid drivetrains, full vehicle programmes, lightweight structures and simulation are a perfect complement to Cosworth’s existing solutions.

Innovative battery and EV solutions are shaping the future of transport. The acquisition will allow Cosworth to reinforce its position as a trusted and innovative partner for OEMs globally. Delta’s state-of-the-art facilities allow for advanced development of bespoke battery modules across a multitude of industries, not least automotive, marine and defence.

Cosworth, Chief Executive, Hal Reisiger said: “The acquisition of Delta marks a pivotal moment for Cosworth as we advance our offering in the electrification space. We are pleased to welcome Delta into the Cosworth Group, and to integrate their expertise and patented intellectual property into our portfolio, alongside our existing capabilities. As a growing business, we continue to explore additional opportunities to accelerate our roadmap to electrification and increase our technology portfolio.”
