Dieter Gass has ‘big shoes to fill’

16 December 2016

Dieter Gass will succeed Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich as head of Audi Motorsport with Gass claiming, “The footsteps left by Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich are very large.”

Gass has been named as Ullrich’s successor to the helm of Audi Motorsport, overseeing Audi’s factory racing efforts in both Formula E and DTM.

Gass has worked closely with Dr. Ullrich over the past five years in order to be “groomed” as the next head of Audi Motorsport. Despite his own successes with Audi in DTM, Gass was careful to ensure he paid tribute to Dr. Ullrich. “He was at the helm of Audi Sport for 23 years and is credited with exceptional achievements during this long period of time.

“In addition to the global development of partnering teams and countless championships in super touring car racing, the 13 victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and numerous DTM titles stand out as lasting milestones.”
