French GP set to be 10th GP to be called off

14 April 2020

France’s round of the F1 championship is due to be postponed at the Circuit Paul Ricard, near Marseille, on 26-28 June. It complies with French president Emmanuel Macron who said in a televised address to the nation on Easter Monday that restrictions on public events would continue until mid-July with a full lockdown also in effect until 11 May. Currently, France has seen over COVID-19 136,000 cases and almost 15,000 deaths reported, putting it fourth in the global list.

If the French GP is called off, the first race of the season will be the Austrian GP on 5 July.
