RML Group enters 2017 ELMS
The RML Group, the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) 2007 and 2010 champions, is entering the 2017 ELMS LMP3 category in partnership with Mectech Motorsport.
The LMP3 entry is part of a Le Mans driver development programme to encourage those drivers wishing to take on the greatest race in the world.
The programme will provide drivers with opportunities from Radicals all the way up to LMP2 cars.
“We see this as a great opportunity to re-enter Sports car racing and have been monitoring the LMP3 category for a while,” claimed Simon Holloway, commercial director at RML. “The ACO has done a brilliant job introducing a very cost effective formula that provides great racing for Pro and Am drivers.”
Mectech Motorsport has expertise in multiple motorsport disciplines, including single seaters and sportscars, taking numerous Radical championships.
“We are very pleased to be working with RML on this project,” enthused the Mectech team owner, Mike Smith. “We have achieved great success with Radical over the years and we see LMP3 as the perfect platform for our drivers to progress, with the experience of ourselves and RML we are now in a position to take a driver from being a total novice to potentially racing at Le Mans.”
