RLR MSport to enter LMP2 with new Ligier JS P217

19 October 2016

European Le Man Series team, RLR Msport, has announced that it will contest LMP2 in 2017 with the new Ligier JS P217, but will maintain its LMP3 entries.

The Bolton-based squad will return to the LMP2 class in ELMS for 2017 for the first time since 2012 when it also entered the 24 hours of Le Mans.

RLR returned to ELMS prototype racing in 2015 for the inaugural season of LMP3 class racing with the Ginetta Juno LMP3 car and changed to the Ligier JSP3 for the 2016 season.

The team expanded its LMP3 line-up in August 2016 to two cars with Nick Reynolds, director of motorsport operations, claiming that “running a second car makes economic sense”.

A partnership has been agreed between Dalveen Enterprises and RLR Msport where the former signed a contract with Onroak Automotive to purchase a new LMP2 Ligier JS P217.

The existing two-car LMP3 car programme will continue in partnership with Mike Smith Motorsport.
