Porsche wraps up first test of 2017 with Michelin
Porsche has revealed that it completed a three-day tyre development test with Michelin on behalf of the FIA, marking the team’s first outing in 2017.
“[It’s] Always interesting to get different views on various topics from drivers being used to different cars,” said Porsche team principal, Andreas Seidl. “Luckily for us Nick Tandy said we have made some progress since the 2015 24 hours of Le Mans when he last raced the 919 Hybrid.”
The test took place over three days at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia, Spain and was completed in partnership with Michelin. According to Porsche, the 919 Hybrid covered 2876 km at the Valencia circuit with Seidl and team chief Fritz Enzinger present for all three days.
“We had perfect weather conditions,” said chief race engineer, Stephen Mitas. “No significant issues and intensive testing with Michelin Tyres. The 2017 updates require a lot of background work from the engineers to lift the full potential of the 919 Hybrid.”
