Brabham and Exxon Mobil reunite after many decades
Mobil 1 will become the Official Motor Oil for Brabham Automotive. The new long-term partnership will see Mobil 1 products supplied to Brabham Automotive in support of its innovative road car and motorsport activities.
The high-performance vehicle manufacturer’s flagship BT62 supercar will leave the factory filled with Mobil 1 5w-50 engine oil as will drivers participating in The Brabham Automotive Driver Development Programme.
The partnership reinforces Brabham Automotive’s commitment to creating new driver experiences for its customers, pioneering the limits of what is possible behind the wheel.
Brabham Automotive continues its growth plan which includes future road cars as well as the ambition to return to the world motorsports stage. The Australian manufacturer will also be supported by ExxonMobil in its factory sports car programme, with the target of racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship.
The announcement coincides with the 60th anniversary of Sir Jack Brabham’s maiden Formula One World Championship win in 1959. He won the title again the following year, powered for the first time by the ExxonMobil fuel brand, Esso. Brabham and Esso were also teamed together for his third and final F1 Championship in 1966.
Multiple Le Mans winner David Brabham, son of Sir Jack, and Managing Director of Brabham Automotive, commented: “My father had great success on track using ExxonMobil products and it’s great that 60 years on we are able to continue that winning formula.”
Dan Marks, Commercial Director of Brabham Automotive, said: “We’re delighted to now be working with ExxonMobil and Mobil 1. This partnership brings two rich motorsport icons together and is significant as we focus on a return to motorsport by 2021/22. What’s more, it will ensure our owners of the BT62 have the best quality products tailored to their needs. With Mobil 1 being a world leading synthetic motor oil brand that shares our commitment to high-quality performance, this partnership will only enhance the performance of the BT62 on track and the experiences our owners and drivers get behind the wheel.”
Kai Decker, Global Sponsorship Manager, ExxonMobil, added: “It is a privilege for ExxonMobil to be reunited with the legendary Brabham name. Brabham Automotive is a very unique brand that is truly passionate about performance driving and enhancing driver experience, making it the perfect fit for Mobil 1. This partnership also provides our teams at ExxonMobil with a fantastic technical platform to demonstrate the capabilities of our advanced Mobil 1 motor oil. Our high-performance oils for the road are developed by using Formula One technology, ensuring our customers receive the very best performance from their cars.”
